Hyrum Lake

While we were in Logan we went boating on Hyrum Lake. It was a smaller lake right in the town of Hyrum. There was a neighborhood just outside the gate. I would love to live there. The boys rode in the tube. Tyson loved it, Hayden did not. After about five minutes he got out and left me and Ty on our own. Of all the things that are pulled behind a boat tubing is my least favorite. I always end up completely drenched.
Tyson tried water skiing again. He was disappointed when he didn't get up on his first try. I think these are the skis I learned on.

I got up!!!!! I have been water skiing since elementary school, but for some reason the last three times I have tried I didn't get up. I was starting to get frustrated, I was afraid it was because I was getting old. I put on our twenty year old ski and yelled hit it to my brother. It felt like slow motion - I was in control of my ski and I got right up! It may have been a combination of the old single boot ski and the slower start of my families boat, but it felt awesome.

Logan

The boys and I went with Grandma B to visit Bryan and Whitney in Logan. We had a great time exploring a new area. We walked around the Utah State campus and had Aggie ice cream at the creamery. It's a beautiful campus with tons of trees. Tyson says he wants to go to school there when he is older.

We went to the American West Heritage center. The boys got to go inside a huge tee pee and listen to a native American tell stories. There was also a mountain man trapper exhibit. We all got to throw tomahawks at tree stumps. The boys thought this was awesome - I am sure it will be a long time before someone else hands them an ax and tells them to throw it.

They went on a pony ride. Hayden's pony was having sneezing issues, I think it made him a little nervous. I thought it was funny that they had the kids wear helmets on the ponies when just minutes before they were throwing tomahawks.

We panned for gold and actually found some (well, fool's gold).

The mountain man demonstration was interesting. We learned all about beaver felt hats and how to trap them. Ty really liked the big old guns that were taller than him. They were so heavy he could barely lift them.

We took a drive up Logan canyon to check it out. We stopped at natural spring, then headed to one of the damns for a picnic lunch. I really like this picture of Whitney and the boys looking for fish.

Olywood Regatta

As part of our Fourth of July celebration my family held the first annual Olywood Regatta. Everyone was invited to create a boat to sail at Smith and Morehouse reservoir. It was a blast! We had five boats participate. Ours was really simple, we build a square frame out of two by fours and screwed a piece of plywood on top. We put the whole thing on top of an old inflatable camping air mattress.

It was really stable and pretty fast - we came in second place.

It floated well - it had nine adults on it before it sunk.

Bryan and Whitney won the race. They get to have the awesome traveling trophy at their house this year.
